Shotgun Chokes can vary from shooter to shooter

Shotgun Chokes..Chokes are vital for controlling the pattern of the shot, especially for clay/skeet

Chokes explained

What is a Choke on a Shotgun ?

A  shotgun choke is the small metal tube that screws into the end of the   barrel. Your shotgun probably came with one and a tool to remove it.   There are a variety of chokes sizes that restrict a shotgun’s bore to a   greater or lesser degree.

Sporting Clays normally use the following

Starting with the CYLINDER Choke:   Generally speaking, a cylinder choke will produce a 40-inch shot spread at 22 Meters (25yds)

Improved Cylinder (1/4) will produce a 40" spread at 27 Meters (30yds)

Modified Choke (1/2) will produce a 40" spread at 32 Meters (35Yds)

Trap Shooting

Trap shooters tend to use a tighter choke as the clays are fast and going away from them from the trap house.

Light Full and Full tend to be the most common chokes used.

Skeet Shooters

As  you shoot skeet clays close to you most shooters favour the Skeet Choke  which is slightly tighter than the Cylinder choke giving a very good  patterned spread at the clay.

One  of the most important things to remember is to always lube and clean  your chokes before and after your shoot.  Chokes can be screwed in by  hand or use your choke key but never over tighten.
